Welcome to the City of Aiken Planning Department

The Planning Department assists elected and appointed decision-makers in efforts to achieve the highest possible quality of life for current and future residents through maintaining and improving the city’s appearance and livability, guiding growth and development, and preserving the essential character of the city. The Planning Department supports comprehensive planning and zoning by the City. The Department serves as staff for the Planning Commission, Design Review Board and the Board of Zoning Appeals. The staff works with residents and developers to make sure that the plan review process is efficient, timely, and fair.
