The City of Aiken Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, in partnership with Aiken Junior Women’s Club, Allegra Marketing, Print & Mail and Books-A-Million will host Take a Look, Buy a Book on August 11th. The new, and gently used, children’s book sale will take place at the H. O. Weeks Center from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Proceeds from the sale of donated books will benefit the Storytime programs and the Fun Funds Scholarship program operated by the City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department. Storytime programs are held at Hopelands Garden, the Aiken Visitors Center and Train Museum. Each of these events provides free books to the children in attendance and an opportunity to read with others from the community. The remaining proceeds go to the Fun Funds Scholarships which provide less financially able children from the community an opportunity to participate in city sponsored sports, camps and activities.
Donations of new and gently used children’s books from members of the community are welcomed. Donations will be accepted at the following locations:
H. O. Weeks Center, 1700 Whiskey Road, Aiken
Aiken Visitors Center and Train Museum, 406 Park Avenue SW, Aiken
