The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department and the Friends of the Aiken Railroad Depot will celebrate National Train Day on Saturday, May 11th, 2019. The event will be held at the Aiken Visitors Center and Train Museum, located at 406 Park Avenue SE, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The community is invited to come out and enjoy the celebration. Admission is free!

There will be live music, train rides for kids, a bounce house, games, balloon and face paint artists, a photo booth, and concessions. Stop by the caboose and meet Conductor Don. Tickets for the train ride and bounce house are $5 for an unlimited wristband and $3 for individual tickets. Tickets can be purchased at the red tent by the caboose.

Join Veronica Andreassen-Barker of Resonate Creative for some family music making at 10:30 a.m. Littles, aged newborn to five years old, and their grown-ups will sing, move, and play some train favorites! Come get a taste of a Music Together® class and start off National Train Day right with music and movement for the family!

Don’t forget to check out the train museum and the Drive-A-Train exhibit! Due to an incredible response from the community, Drive-A-Train is now a permanent part of the Depot. It can be viewed during normal business hours: Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. For additional information on the exhibit or the Aiken Visitors Center and Train Museum, please visit or call (803) 293-7846.
