In a reorganization designed to maximize the efficiency of the City of Aiken, the Public Works Department has been split into two distinct departments as they were prior to October, 2016.

Interim City Manager Stuart Bedenbaugh announced the changes to impacted City workers in a memo issued Monday. The new structure returns the City to having an Engineering and Utilities Department and a Public Services Department.

The Engineering and Utilities Department will be responsible for engineering, stormwater management, water and sewer utilities, and administrative duties related to those functions. Mike Pryzbylowicz has been named the acting director the department, as the memo to employees stated.

The Public Services Department will be responsible for solid waste services, the maintenance of City grounds, and administrative services related to those functions. Tim Coakley has been named the acting director of the department.

The changes are effective immediately.
