FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
City of Aiken Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department Announces the
Return of Our Fall Story Time Program
Story Time, a cherished reading program that promotes literacy in our community’s youth, begins its fall season on Tuesday, September 6, at 4:00 PM. Story Time is free to attend and is held on the grounds of Rye Patch, located at 100 Berrie Rd. In inclement weather, Story Time will be held inside Rye Patch Reception Center. This season our stories will highlight the importance of being kind, using your imagination, and many other fun reading adventures each week!
Parents are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket; snacks and drinks are welcome. Every family in attendance will receive a free book to take home to build their library and encourage a lifelong love of reading. This program occurs every Tuesday afternoon in September and October.
This year we are excited to announce a special Halloween Story Time on Monday, October 31 at 4:00 PM. All of our books will be about Halloween and families are encouraged to come in their costumes! This will be a fun way to kick off Halloween before venturing out to trick-or-treat!
Families are encouraged to bring used books from home to help stock the Little Free Library in Hopelands Gardens. Located behind the Doll House, the Library provides a free book exchange that has further fostered the mission of Story Time since installation in 2017.
Story Time would not be possible without support from these gracious sponsors: The Aiken Homes Team at Meybohm, The Friends of Hopelands Gardens and Rye Patch, LLC, Lance and Cathy Traver, The Moseley Family, Bradley L. Boni, LLC., Tee Up to Read, Leadership Aiken County Class of 2021-2022, Aiken-Barnwell Mental Health Center and Wesley Bodie, Real Estate Agent.
The City of Aiken Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism invites people of all ability levels to enjoy programs, parks, and facilities. Individuals needing special assistance to participate should notify PRT Administrative Office 48 hours in advance.
