FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department
Seeks Participants for the 2023 Festival of Trees
The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department is seeking participants for the Festival of Trees to be held at the Aiken Visitors Center & Train Museum during the month of December. A tree lighting celebration for the Festival of Trees will be held on Friday, December 1st, at 4:00 pm, preceding the Downtown Tree Lighting at 6:00 pm on Newberry St.
This annual event invites local businesses and organizations to decorate holiday trees and display them at the City of Aiken Visitors Center & Train Museum (406 Park Ave SE). Visitors vote on their favorite tree throughout the month, with the 1st through 3rd place winners receiving a small monetary donation to the charity of their choice. Winners will be highlighted on social media and in a press release at the conclusion of the event. Follow along on the social media channels @AikenParksRec and @VisitAikenSC.
Participating in the Festival of Trees is a great way for organizations to gain publicity and connect with a new audience. There is no cost to participate, but space is limited. Organizations interested in displaying a tree should fill out an application available online at https://coa.page/qff9. Forms are also available for pick-up at the City of Aiken Municipal Center on 111 Chesterfield St. Forms must be submitted by Nov. 1st, and participants will be notified of acceptance by Nov. 3rd.
