
Mary Lawton
Aiken City Manager Stuart Bedenbaugh announced two personnel changes within his leadership team.
Assistant City Manager, Mary Catherine Lawton accepted the position of Capital Projects Sales Tax Manager after Joy Lester resigned the post for an opportunity in the private sector. Lawton, an Aiken resident, served as the City’s Assistant City Manager for over two years, after working three years as a Planner in the City’s Planning Department. Prior to working for the City of Aiken, Lawton worked for the City of Hartsville, South Carolina. She has a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Tech and a master’s degree from the University of South Carolina.

Mary Tilton
Upon the change of position with Lawton, Mary Tilton has been promoted to the City’s Assistant City Manager. Tilton, a resident of Aiken, has worked for the City for two years as a Planner and Director of Operations. Prior to working for the City of Aiken, she worked for Bamberg County, South Carolina. Tilton holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire and master’s degrees from Virginia Tech and Augusta University.
