The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department, along with the Department of Public Safety, are hosting a cookout to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Smith-Hazel Recreation Center. This free community event will be held on Saturday, July 15 from 11 am – 2 pm at 400 Kershaw Street. Additional parking will be available on Sumter Street NE.
The pool and gym will be open to the public during the event at no cost. Enjoy family-friendly music, yard games, a firetruck spray down, and bingo! Several community organizations will be on-site helping prepare and serve lunch, the Clyburn Community Health Express will be providing blood-pressure checks and passing out information, and the Shepeard Community Blood Center Bloodmobile will be collecting donations to help save local lives.
We are currently seeking sponsors and volunteers! If you are interested in supporting the Smith-Hazel Recreation Center 60th Anniversary celebration, please call (803) 293 – 7851. The last day to sponsor/volunteer is June 16.
