Aiken, SC— The City of Aiken will suspend solid waste services for Thursday, Oct. 11 due to Hurricane Michael. All Thursday solid waste service has been moved to Friday.

The city is requesting that all residents of Aiken secure their trash bins and any other objects that have the potential to become a projectile as a result of high winds.

Weather reports have Aiken seeing the strongest effects from Michael between 4 am and 2 pm. Thursday. This includes 4 to 6 inches of rain and sustained winds of 20 to 40 mph with gusts between 50 to 60 mph. Also, there is an elevated risk for tornadoes as the storm moves through.
