Pet’s and Animals within the City of Aiken

The City of Aiken’s pet and animal services are provided by the Aiken Department of Public Safety’s Animal Control Division. While promoting responsible pet ownership, the division also handles lost or injured animals and works to protect the public from animal-related communicable diseases such as rabies. The Animal Control division also enforces the states and city’s laws, regulations, codes and procedures pertaining to the care of domesticated animals and control of wild animals to ensure they are treated humanely. The division also works closely with the Aiken SPCA, Aiken County Animal Shelter, and South Carolina Department of Natural Resources to help abused and stray animals have an opportunity to find new homes as healthy, adoptable pets or to live the remainder of their lives in a safe and happy environment.
