Earth Day Aiken is celebrated annually on or near Saturday, April 22 in downtown Aiken, SC. The festival includes exhibitors, music, awards, children activities and featured speakers. The event is held in the Newberry Street Festival area and in The Alley. The day began with a 5K People Chase Fun Run. It also includes the Friday evening event “Lights Out” during which local restaurants and clubs observe Earth Day with a variety of creative and energy saving initiatives during dinner. In 2017 more than 2000 people attended and more than 40 exhibitors had interactive displays tied to the theme: “Preserving for Tomorrow What We All Enjoy Today.”
