The City of Aiken will conduct a General Election on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, to fill four expiring seats on City Council:

Council District 2
Council District 4
Council District 5
Council District 6

The election will be conducted under the 6-1 Single Member District Plan.

District 2 includes portions of Precincts 2, 3, 4, 11, 35, and 46
District 4 includes portions of Precincts 13, 53, 60, 69, 70, 76, and 77
District 5 includes portions of Precincts 13, 20, 47, 52 53, 70, 72, 79 and 83
District 6 includes portions of Precincts 5, 6, 20, 47, 52, 72 and 83

Voters will vote in the District in which they reside.

The following dates and times are hereby established for nomination and election of candidates for City Council in the November 2, 2021, General Election:

Monday, July 5, 2021 12 noon
Opening of filing for nomination by petitions and other filing of candidates for nomination in municipal political party primaries or conventions.

Monday, July 12, 2021 12 noon
Closing of filing of candidates for nomination by political parties.

Tuesday, August 10, 2021
Municipal Party Primaries or Conventions.

Tuesday, August 24, 2021
Municipal Party Primary run offs, if necessary.

Thursday, August 19, 2021 12 noon
Closing of entries for nomination by petition.

Friday, September 3, 2021 12 noon
Last day for certifying candidates to Municipal Election Commission.

Tuesday, November 2, 2021
General Election Day

  • The last day to register in person to vote in the August 10, 2021, Municipal Party Primaries will be Friday, July 9, 2021, and online, email or fax by Sunday, July 11 or mail postmarked by Monday, July 12, 2021.
  • The last day to register in person to vote in the November 2, 2021, election will be Friday, October 1, 2021, and online, email or fax by Sunday, October 3 and postmarked by Monday, October 4, 2021.
  • Anyone may register in person to vote at the Aiken Voter Registration and Elections Office at 1930 University Parkway, Suite 1200, Aiken, SC 29801 Monday thru Friday 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
  • Voters will be asked to provide a Photo ID when voting in person.
