NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION
The City of Aiken will conduct a General Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, to fill three expiring seats on City Council:
Mayor
Council District 1
Council District 3
The election will be conducted under the 6-1 Single Member District Plan (2023).
District 1 includes portions of Precincts 3, 4, 5, 22, 57, and 72.
District 3 includes portions of Precincts 1, 20, 47, 60, 66, 70, and 77
Voters living in District 1 will vote in District 1 and for Mayor.
Voters living in District 3 will vote in District 3 and for Mayor.
All city voters may vote in the Mayor’s race.
The following dates and times are hereby established for nomination and election of candidates for City Council in the November 7, 2023, General Election:
Opening of filing for nomination by petitions
and other filing of candidates for nomination
in municipal political party primaries or
conventions:
12 noon, Monday, July 3, 2023
Closing of filing of candidates for nomination
by political parties:

Any person wishing to vote in this election must be registered in person by Friday October 6, Online, fax or email, October 8, 2023. Mail-in voter registration forms will be accepted if postmarked by Monday, October 9, 2023.
Anyone may register in person to vote at the Aiken Voter Registration and Elections Office at 1930 University Parkway, Monday thru Friday 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

Voters will be asked to provide one of the following Photo IDs when voting in person.
- S.C. Driver’s License
Includes standard License and REAL ID - S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles ID Card
Includes standard ID card and REAL ID
Includes SC Concealed Weapons Permit - S.C Voter Registration Card with Photo
- Federal Military ID
Includes all Department of Defense Photo IDs and Veterans Affairs Benefits Card - U.S. Passport
Includes US Passport ID Card

The early voting period of this election begins on Monday, October 23, 2023, and ends on Friday November 3, 2023. The following early voting center will be open during the early voting period from 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday at the Aiken County Board of Registration at 1930 University Parkway, Suite 1200.

Filing Information
- State Ethics Filings: Candidates are required to file a Statement of Economic Interests and a Campaign Disclosure online with the State Ethics Commission at http://ethics.sc.gov. Failure to file these documents may result in a candidate fine but will not disqualify a candidate from the election. Contact the State Ethics Commission for more information
- Democratic candidates may file at the Aiken Democratic Headquarters at 410 Richland Avenue W. Aiken, South Carolina. Call Harold Crawford, Jr. at (803) 215-5509 to schedule an appointment.
- Republican candidates may file at Republican Headquarters, at 127 Greenville Street SW, Aiken, South Carolina. Call Debbie Epling at (803) 599-8660 to schedule an appointment.
- Election certification will be held in the City Council Chambers at 111 Chesterfield Street S at 9:00 A.M. Thursday, November 9, 2023.
