Welcome to the City of Aiken Finance Department

The Finance Department handles the fiscal responsibilities for the City of Aiken. The department is responsible for collecting all funds owed to the city through taxes, business licensing fees, local accommodations taxes, hospitality taxes, and miscellaneous receivables due. The department generates bills for over 20,000 water meters each month and distributes billing for sewer, garbage, and stormwater services. Suburban fire accounts are processed quarterly, and the department conducts an annual delinquent tax sale. Business license renewals are billed annually, and hospitality and accommodations taxes are collected monthly.

The Accounting Division is responsible for making all payments for any debts the city owes. In addition, the division prepares monthly and annual financial reports, reconciles bank accounts, maintains fixed asset records, submits all required state and federal reports, processes asset disposals upon auction, and prepares the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and Budget for submission to the Government Finance Officers Association.
