Aiken, SC – The City of Aiken announced that private donors have stepped in to open swimming opportunities for kids to enjoy the summer swimming at the newly renovated Smith-Hazel pool in Aiken. The source of the donated funds is from Aiken Personnel Services (APS) in collaboration with Aiken Northside Improvement Partnership.
“I learned to swim at Smith Hazel and had a lot of great summers there. Aiken has given so much to my family and myself. With their support or through business, it’s only right that we pour into what we once drank from. We can start by making sure kids swim free this summer”, stated Dexter Price, who is the CEO and Founder of Aiken Personnel Services located in Aiken.
The generous gift will pay for the admission to the pool for children 12 and under until the donated funds are exhausted.
The City of Aiken is very grateful for these donations by Aiken Personnel Services and Aiken Northside Improvement Partnership. I am ecstatic when our citizens seize an opportunity to enhance the quality of life for our children in Aiken and our new pool is the perfect place for that, said City Manager Stuart Bedenbaugh.
The Smith-Hazel Pool recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 19 and afterward launched its official opening to the public for 2020.
