FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AIKEN, SC –The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation & Tourism (PRT) Department has coordinated an opportunity for local community residents to drop in and vote on Smith-Hazel Playground design options. Residents may meet with PRT Director Jessica Campbell and staff at Smith-Hazel Park, near the existing playground, on Tuesday, February 7th, from 4:00 – 5:00 PM. Two playground design options, along with color selection, will be available on site that residents can review and vote on.
For those unable to attend the drop-in on February 7, the proposed playground design options will remain available for review and voting at Smith-Hazel Recreation Center through Sunday, February 12th.
“We’re excited and eager to restore this playground for the enjoyment of children visiting Smith-Hazel Park,” stated Campbell.
Funding for the playground, established as part of the first phase of park revitalization, comes from voter approval of Capital Project Sales Tax IV projects, along with a grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
