AIKEN, SC — The City of Aiken Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, in conjunction with the Senior Commission, will host a free event, Smart Steps: How to Prevent Slips, Trips and Falls on Thursday, May 16 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Lessie B. Price Senior & Youth Center, 841 Edgefield Avenue NW. The mission of the Senior Commission is to facilitate programming to advance the well-being of seniors (age 50 and above) in Aiken.

April 2024 is National Fair Housing Month Fair Housing
The City of Aiken along with the nation, celebrates the 56th Anniversary of the Fair Housing Act. This landmark law was signed into law on April 11, 1968, by President Lyndon B. Johnson. The Fair Housing Act prohibits housing discrimination because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability, and family status. The Act furthers the beliefs advocated by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the other heroes of the Civil Rights Movement.
