FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department will host the 19th annual Touch-A-Truck Event on Saturday, October 2, 2021, from 9 am – 1 pm! This free event is an informal chance for children to climb, sit, and explore various vehicles at the Odell Weeks Center Soccer Field, 1700 Whiskey Road, Aiken, South Carolina. For a sensory friendly experience, please visit from 9 am – 10 am, at which time there will be limited sounds and lights.

A variety of vehicles will be available for children to enjoy this year, including some with “real horsepower,” complements of the Aiken Volunteer Mounted Unit! Our vehicle contributors include local businesses and organizations who see the value in providing families with this annual day of hands-on exploration. Aiken Public Safety, Aiken Electric Cooperative, Inc., Aiken County EMS, Aiken County Sherriff’s Office, ABBE Regional Library System, Broome Service Center, Inc. and many more will be in attendance.

Families can enjoy a ride on the trackless train before grabbing a snack or treat from the Beefed Up Food Truck and Kona Ice Truck. We will also have Safe Kids Aiken County on-site performing car-seat checkups and offering a distracted driving simulation.

K. Ward Aerial Tech, LLC graciously sponsors Touch-A-Truck.

If you are interested in participating in Touch-A-Truck as a vehicle contributor, vendor, or sponsor, contact Alison Cribb at (803) 642-7648.
