The City of Aiken Engineering and Utilities Department announces that on Saturday, August 5, the department will be conducting uni-directional flushing of water pipes in the vicinity of the Aiken High School. The targeted zone lies between Rutland and Columbia Ave, and York St. and Laurens St. The flushing effort will encompass Teague St., DuPont Dr. and a portion of DuPont Landing, Gayle Ave, Hill Ave NW, and Davis Terrace.
The process will begin at approximately 9 AM on Saturday and is expected to conclude around noon, depending on the results.
This process is not expected to impact water volume or supply. There may be minor fluctuations in water pressure. There is the possibility of water discoloration, however any discoloration should be transient and minimal. Citizens are asked to contact the City at 803-642-7629 if they experience any prolonged issues with their water service.
Please do not tamper with or close any flowing fire hydrants.
