In the City of Aiken, “Winter is coming!” means leaf season is upon us. Leaf season traditionally runs from mid-October until January. Last year the Solid Waste Division purchased two new leaf vacuums to make the collection of leaves more efficient.

This leaf season, Public Works Department official Tim Coakley is asking that residents please make a separate pile for leaves apart from sticks and branches to prevent clogging the suction tubes of the leaf vacuums. Doing this allows the City of Aiken to provide the most efficient solid waste services, avoid overtime expenses, and preserve equipment. If you have any questions about your solid waste collection, please call the Public Works Department at 803-642-7613 or email .
