Fall Farm Fest 2023

Autumn is in the air! The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation, and Tourism department will host our annual Fall Farm Fest on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Aiken County Farmers Market, 115 Williamsburg St. SE. This free family event is a great way to support local farmers and growers by shopping for fantastic fall produce while participating in fall themed activities including a pumpkin decorating contest, touch-a-tractor, and greeting horses from Aiken Equine Rescue.

Senior Caregivers Program: Refresh, Renew, and Re-educate

AIKEN, SC — (September 25, 2023) The City of Aiken Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism, in conjunction with the Senior Commission, will host a free Senior Caregiver Program on Thursday, October 12, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Lessie B. Price Aiken Senior & Youth Center, 841 Edgefield Avenue NW. This event will allow caregivers to refresh, renew, and re-educate on subjects about the art of caregiving.

The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism will host an exhibit about Five-Time Horse of the Year, Kelso through October 12, 2023 at the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum.

The 2nd Annual Nature Rocks in Hopelands Gardens

The Friends of Hopelands and Rye Patch and the City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department presents the 2nd Annual Nature Rocks in Hopelands Gardens on Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 1 – 4 pm. This is sure to be a fun and exciting day of nature crafts, scavenger hunts, and interactive demonstrations by several local organizations. In addition, participants can enjoy Story Time with Mother Goose, face painting, a history walk and learn about the ancient traditions surrounding the labyrinth.

Short-term Rental Stakeholder Representatives Sought

The City of Aiken is beginning to look for representatives to discuss regulations around short-term rentals. Like many municipalities across the country and state, we as a City are grappling with the popularity of short-term rentals.

Aiken Unveils TextMyGov: Enhancing Communications with Text Messaging

The City of Aiken announces the unveiling of TextMyGov, a texting platform that enhances communication and engagement between the city government and its residents. TextMyGov offers a simple and convenient way for residents to connect with the City of Aiken using keywords and key phrases in text messaging. TextMyGov also offers citizens the opportunity to opt-in to select lists to receive information via their cell phone.

Recreation Commission Request for Youth Commissioners Announcement

The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department is excited to announce its request for Youth Commissioners to serve alongside the Recreation Commission. The Recreation Commission consists of seven Commissioners and up to four Youth Commissioners. The Recreation Commission serves as a liaison between the city residents and program participants and the Aiken City Council to ensure the development and provision of appropriate, quality recreation facilities, services and programs.

Labor Day Holiday Closing

The City of Aiken offices will be closed Monday, September 4, in observance of Labor Day. The Municipal Building will re-open Tuesday, September 5, at 8:10 AM.
