April 2024 is National Fair Housing Month Fair Housing

The City of Aiken along with the nation, celebrates the 56th Anniversary of the Fair Housing Act. This landmark law was signed into law on April 11, 1968, by President Lyndon B. Johnson. The Fair Housing Act prohibits housing discrimination because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability, and family status. The Act furthers the beliefs advocated by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the other heroes of the Civil Rights Movement.

It’s no secret that visitors flock to the City of Aiken, South Carolina this time of year in search of a memorable, exciting getaway. Visit Aiken is proud to announce that all people coming to Aiken will be greeted with a brand new Visitors Guide to assist them with their travels.

Start Smart Registration 2024

Start Smart is an instructional program that provides children ages 3-5 years old (age 3 as of May 1, 2024) exposure to physical and social activity through sports. Parents work together with their children to learn all of the basic skills. Participants can sign up for baseball, soccer, or both sports.

Center for African American History, Art & Culture announce New Exhibit: “Jazz! Art Quilts in Performance”

Aiken, SC – The Center for African American History, Art & Culture (CAAHAC) proudly presents its latest exhibition, ” Jazz! Art Quilts in Performance,” featuring the African American Story Quilts of Dr. Marlene O’Bryant-Seabrook. The exhibit, set in the vibrant era of the Renaissance, will run from April to June 2024 at the CAAHAC Main Gallery, located at 120 York St. NE.
