On May 13, Aiken City Council approved changes to water and sewer rates. The increased revenue will be used to fund water and sewer infrastructure improvements.
The changes are in effect and will first appear on the June, 2019, statement. Base meter rates will increase for meters larger than ¾ inches. Water rates are increasing 3%; sewer rates are going up 1.8%. As an example, an average residential customer using 800 cubic feet of water per month will see their water bill charge increase approximately 27 cents per month. That same customer, billed for 800 cubic feet of sewer per month, will see their sewer bill increase by approximately 40 cents per month.
