Aiken, SC – All non-emergency departments of the City of Aiken will be closed on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 because of the threat of extreme weather. There is a threat of tornadoes and heavy rain. Citizens are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items and remain off the roadways as much as possible. Additionally, all public meetings scheduled for Tuesday will be postponed. The Planning Commission meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday, January 11, 2024.
Solid waste collection will proceed as regularly scheduled; however, to expedite collection, trash and recycling will be co-mingled. Citizens can hold their recycling until their next regularly scheduled collection date if they prefer.
It is expected that the City offices will reopen on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 unless there is sufficient damage to prevent the offices from opening safely. Updates will be posted on City social media channels and The City website. https://www.cityofaikensc.gov/
