Tuesday, April 23, 2019

At the regular meeting held on April 22, 2019, the Aiken City Council adopted a resolution that the new Senior & Youth Center located next to Eustis Park be called the “Lessie B. Price Aiken Senior & Youth Center”

Lessie B. Price has served the citizens of the City of Aiken since 1987 as a City Councilmember as the first African American woman elected at-large in the City then subsequently representing District 2 when the City adopted the 4-2-1 election plan.

Councilwoman Price has been at the forefront of many significant City initiatives, including neighborhood improvements which include the construction of new houses, new sidewalks, and installation of new street lighting all around the City’s Northside, infrastructure improvements to our utilities and construction and renovation of multiple City parks and recreation facilities.

The resolution was presented to Councilwoman Price, along with her family and constituents who attended the meeting.
