The City Council approved in a scheduled meeting on August 24, 2020, to annex 140 acres of property owned by the Aiken Steeplechase Association at the intersection of Richland Ave E, Old Wagener Road, and Rudy Mason Parkway.
The concept plan includes a steeplechase track, support structures, and a future commercial area on the land. The support structures include stables, a tower and pavilion, a spectators’ berm, a well and pump house, and event parking.
Temporary facilities will be used initially and will transition to more permanent structures.
