Aiken City Manager Stuart Bedenbaugh announced the hiring of Marya Moultrie to be the Planning Director. Moultrie has worked as the interim Planning Director in the City since April of 2021.
Before beginning to work at the City of Aiken in 2015, Moultrie worked in the public and private sectors, including various roles within the planning and development field over the last 20 years. She has work experience in Hazard Mitigation Planning, County Planning and Development, Transportation Planning, Project Management, Land Planning, Planning Consultation and Landscape Design, and City Planning.
Moultrie received two Bachelor’s degrees from the University of South Carolina Aiken and a Master’s degree from the University of Florida. Certifications include the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), Certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector (CEPSCI), and Certified Stormwater Plan Reviewer (CSPR).
“I believe Marya Moultrie will provide Aiken citizens, City Council, and staff with a high level of service and commitment as Planning Director,” stated Bedenbaugh.
Moultrie, a native of Aiken, South Carolina, has hobbies that include sailing, kayaking, gardening, spending time with friends, and hanging out with her two dogs and three cats.
Moultrie replaces Ryan Bland as Planning Director, who resigned from the post last spring.
