The City of Aiken (City) has developed a Stormwater Design Manual (Manual) that establishes the minimum stormwater design standards for site grading, demolition, land development, and redevelopment projects within the limits of the City. This manual provides the policies and procedures used for land development and redevelopment that meet the requirements of the Stormwater Quantity and Quality Management Requirements of the City Ordinances. With these adjustments, a new stormwater checklist and additional design forms were created and will be required for review and approval for all land disturbances within the City limits.
Changes of note and information provided include a comprehensive update that was made to the Stormwater Ordinance that is now in full effect. A training session was held and recorded for all design professionals and engineers that have recently submitted projects within the City on how to use the Manual and the new requirements. The City’s website has been revised to provide more information regarding the Stormwater Management program, in particular, all new forms and guidance documents as well as the training session and presentation of the design manual are linked to assist with the submittal of your site design package.
Be advised that the cutoff date for all submittals to be accepted not using the new documents and the Manual policies and procedures is September 30, 2022. After this date, all projects must comply with the requirements in the updated design checklist and Manual.
