City of Aiken Stormwater Construction Permitting / Design

Prepare to submit one set of plans and corresponding Notice of Intent (NOI) and appropriate documentation to the City of Aiken Planning Department. It typically takes upwards of 10 business days to receive comments/revisions. Once all comments are satisfactorily addressed, the plan is approved. An approval letter will be provided to the applicant and if over 1 acre is disturbed or part of a larger common plan, the next step is to receive NPDES coverage. The approval letter, copy of the NOI, and appropriate SCDHEC fees shall be submitted to SCDHEC directly by the applicant. Please provide the City Engineering and Utilities Department with notification and a copy of NPDES coverage once received. Once all applicable City permitting has been approved (Notice to Construct, building permit, etc.) a pre-construction meeting can be scheduled with City staff present. The pre-construction meeting will not all go over agendas and timelines but this is when you also will receive your grading permit and final stamped plans.
