The departments (and respective divisions) that make up your City government strive to make the City of Aiken a safe, healthy, and fulfilling place to live, work and play, by providing vital services to the community. From enjoying recreational and instructional activities and scenic parks to receiving social services and peace officer protection, community members interact with the City of Aiken every day.

Observed Holiday Schedule

Please note: Regular residential garbage, yard debris and recycling collection service will NOT occur on holidays that the City observes. The rule of thumb is that if a holiday falls on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday then garbage, recycling & yard debris collection will be delayed one day starting with the day of the holiday. If a holiday falls on Friday then there is no change in service.

The following holidays are observed by the City. If the holiday falls on a Saturday then all offices will be closed on Friday and if the holiday occurs on a Sunday, then all offices will be closed on Monday.

Presidents Day, Columbus Day, Juneteenth, and Veterans Day are NOT City holidays; therefore, these days will NOT affect garbage, trash, and recycling pickup, and the regular schedule will be followed.
