City of Aiken Economic Development

The City of Aiken is dedicated to stimulating economic growth within its boundaries and recruiting new business and industry through outreach and managing incentive programs for entrepreneurs. Staff serve as a liaison between the business community and various city entities to foster a business-friendly environment.

Working with various boards and committees that share similar interests, the focus of Economic Development is on strengthening the local economy and expanding opportunities for entrepreneurs to benefit residents and visitors to Aiken. Activities are provided to assist low and moderate-income families and neighborhoods within the city limits, along with creating economic opportunities in these areas, including minority and women-owned small businesses.

Management of the Community Development Block Grant (C.D.B.G.) involves developing short and long-range goals and objectives to ensure the City remains aware of and complies with federal and state requirements related to C.D.B.G. and Title VI. Additionally, Community Resources are managed by acting as a liaison between the public, service agencies, and other organizations to educate people about available programs and explain eligibility requirements.
