City of Aiken Historic Resources Survey

The City of Aiken Historic Resources Survey is an inventory of historic properties in the City limits. Working with the South Carolina State Historic Preservation office, it was determined that there are between 1000 and 1200 historic properties located within the City limits. The Survey includes digitized photographs of all properties and a database developed by the SC State Historic Preservation Office to more easily transfer information between agencies and into the State Historic Preservation Office Geographic Information System. The City placed this data on its website and mapped it so that an individual can go to a map that shows every property surveyed, and by clicking on one of the address points, access the Historic Property Survey Card showing the date of construction, architectural details, historical background and any photographs of the property.
