City of Aiken Enrichment Programs

Ah, the joy and refreshment of enrichment programs. The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism offers programs for children and adults. Now is the time to take the plunge and schedule time for enrichment for your child. You can sign up to enrich your life as well.

Traditional Shotokan Karate

Shotokan Karate (non-contact style) teaches practical self-defense. It will enhance your concentration, self-discipline, confidence, and emotional control while promoting health, fitness balance, and agility. Ages 7 and up. Tuesdays 6:30-7:45 PM

Pilates

Visualize a longer, leaner look and then make it a reality with Pilates. An easy, non-impact program for each body shape and every level of fitness. Contact Joy Donovan for more details (717) 203-7118. Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:30-1:15.

Board Games of the CSRA

Join us for classic, Euro, strategy games and more! Snacks are welcomed. Thursdays, 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Toddler Time

Run, play and release a lot of energy! Toddlers interact and give parents a chance to socialize with one another. Balls, scooters, mats, hula-hoops, parachutes and more are provided to stimulate free play. Ages: 5 and under (accompanied by an adult). Wednesdays, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Basic Dog Training

Wish your dog’s manners were a little more polished? Dogs five months and older will learn the basic commands of come, sit, down, stay, wait, stand, etc. Topics will include basic care of dogs and what to expect as training progresses. Optional enrollment in 7th week for just $5 will give your dog the chance to become an AKC-certified Canine Good Citizen. Dogs must be current on rabies vaccination and registered with City of Aiken if residing within city limits. This 6-week class is offered at different times throughout the year; please contact Odell Weeks for a current schedule.

Lightsaber Club

Join the Aiken Lightsaber Club to learn the sport of fencing using specialized lightsabers. In addition to fencing skills, you will learn self-discipline, focus, and other values taught in martial arts. Ages 12 and up. Fridays 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM.

Puppy Class

Your puppy will be a S.T.A.R. with this six-week course designed for dogs 10 – 20 weeks of age. Puppies will learn a variety of skills and commands, and will take the S.T.A.R. Puppy Test at the end of the course. Puppies must have record of 2 sets of shots. This 6-week class is offered at different times throughout the year; please contact Odell Weeks for a current schedule.

Youth Archery League

Register today for this program that runs January – March 2019! Open to beginners and experienced participants. Students will learn archery history, safety, technique, equipment, mental concentration, and self-improvement from professionals with nearly 60 years of combined coaching experience. Equipment provided is state-of-the-art and designed to fit every student. Ages 5-18 (12 and under must be accompanied by an adult). 12 sessions: Wednesday s, January 2 – March 20, 2019: 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM. Odell Weeks Gym.
