City of Aiken Enrichment Programs

Ah, the joy and refreshment of enrichment programs. The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism offers programs for children and adults. Now is the time to take the plunge and schedule time for enrichment for your child. You can sign up to enrich your life as well.

After School Program

Make the grade and make it fun with homework help, games, awards for academic achievement and a light snack daily. Ages: 5 – 13. Monday – Friday: January 4 – June 2, 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. (with exceptions following Aiken County Public School calendar)


Get creative at the Weeks Ceramics Center! Participants create, glaze and fire a variety of pieces including dishes, vases, seasonal decorations and more. Ages: 14 and up. Choose one of the following times per week: Monday, 9:00 a.m. or 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, 6:00 p.m. or Wednesday, 9:00 a.m.

City of Aiken Youth Advisory Board

The City of Aiken is seeking Youth Advisory Board Members. The youth board develops programs that meet the needs of the City of Aiken youth communities. The board meets once a month at Smith-Hazel Recreation Center. Any 7th – 12th grade resident of the City of Aiken is welcome. Call 803-642-7634 for more information.

Glaze Craze On Wednesdays!

Kids looking for entertainment on early release days? Join us at the Weeks Ceramics Center to paint your own seasonal ceramic piece. Work on projects together or paint your own. Participants can choose from three ceramic molds. Look for examples of upcoming projects at the Weeks front desk or on Facebook. Register and pay at the H. Odell Weeks front desk at least one week in advance of each class. Registration is non-refundable within one week of class. Ages: All (14 and under must be accompanied by an adult). First Wednesdays of February and March. Three-hour sessions between 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Toddler Time

Run, play and release a lot of energy! Toddlers interact and give parents a chance to socialize with one another. Balls, scooters, mats, hula-hoops, parachutes and more are provided to stimulate free play. Ages: 5 and under (accompanied by an adult). Wednesdays and Fridays, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Basic Dog Training

Wish your dog’s manners were a little more polished? Dogs five months and older will learn the basic commands of come, sit, down, stay, wait, stand, etc. Topics will include basic care of dogs and what to expect as training progresses. Optional enrollment in 7th week for just $5 will give your dog the chance to become an AKC-certified Canine Good Citizen. Dogs must be current on rabies vaccination and registered with City of Aiken if residing within city limits. Wednesdays, January 13 – February 17, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Puppy Class

Your puppy will be a S.T.A.R. with this six-week course designed for dogs 10 – 20 weeks of age. Puppies will learn a variety of skills and commands, and will take the S.T.A.R. Puppy Test at the end of the course. Puppies must have record of 2 sets of shots. Wednesdays, January 13 – February 17, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon.
