Business License Requirements : Doing Business in the City of Aiken

Any business that is located within the City of Aiken or that performs work within the city limits is required to purchase a business license each year. Licenses are valid from July 1 to June 30 of the following year. Temporary and one-time licenses are issued when appropriate and are valid only for the event or job for which they are issued. No business license is needed for businesses with an address outside the city limits unless work is performed inside the city limits. Any business located outside the city, which performs work in the city, does pay a license fee based on the value of the actual work or sales within the city. This license fee is double the rate of similar businesses within the city.
