City of Aiken Department of Public Safety Citizen’s Academy
The Aiken Department of Public Safety Citizen’s Academy is a nine-week program consisting of one class per week on Thursday nights from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Each class is taught on a different topic and seeks to give participants an overall understanding of each unique aspect of Public Safety. All instructors are members of the public safety profession and will present materials on the following topics:
- Basic Patrol Functions
- Firefighting
- Use of Force (Lethal, Less -Lethal)
- Community Policing
- Traffic Safety
- Criminal Investigations
- …..and more!
The Citizen’s Academy is intended to be an overview of the Department’s functions and operations. Participants will not be trained as police officers or firefighters.
This Year’s Citizen’s Academy will be held starting September 8th, 2022. The application Deadline is August 1st.
