City of Aiken Water Quality

The City of Aiken Engineering & Utilities Department takes great strides to ensure your water is safe every time you turn on your faucet or take a sip from a public water fountain.

It is our mission to provide a safe and sufficient water supply that will enhance and sustain our vibrant community.

Every year we produce a City of Aiken Drinking Water Quality report which contains a wealth of information on the quality of our water.

The City of Aiken’s water comes from several different sources. One is a surface water source that comes from Shaw’s Creek, another is a spring water source that comes from Shiloh Springs, and the other three sources are from well systems on Pine Log Road, Town Creek Road, and Silver Bluff Road. These three well systems draw from deep aquifers.

From January to December the City of Aiken and SCDHEC routinely monitors these different sources for contaminants according to Federal and State laws.
